1. Who we are

Nostyra is an open-source project created and maintained by vivusk, an individual developer ("the maintainer", "we"). It is not a company. In these terms, "you" means anyone who visits the website or uses the software.

2. Software licence

The Nostyra software is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later (GPL-3.0-or-later). The GPL is the licence that governs your rights to use, copy, modify and distribute the software. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the GPL gives you. If these terms and the GPL conflict regarding the software, the GPL applies.

Emulator cores, databases, shaders and fonts used by Nostyra are separate projects under their own licences. Some cores (Snes9x, Genesis Plus GX) have non-commercial licences, so Nostyra may not be sold together with them.

3. Acceptable use

• Use Nostyra only with games and BIOS files you have the legal right to use, such as dumps of your own cartridges and discs.
• Do not use Nostyra, this website or the project's GitHub pages to share, request or link to copyrighted games or BIOS files.
• Follow the laws of your country. You are responsible for the content you load into Nostyra.

4. Third-party services

Some features connect to services run by others: the libretro buildbot (emulator cores), libretro-thumbnails (cover art), RetroAchievements (achievements) and GitHub (downloads and issue tracker). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. We do not control their availability or content.

5. No warranty

The software and the website are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Nostyra is early-stage software: most systems are marked Experimental, and bugs may cause crashes or loss of save data. Back up your saves.

6. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the maintainer is not liable for any damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the software or the website, including loss of data, saves or profits. This matches sections 15 and 16 of the GPL.

7. Trademarks

Nintendo, Sega, Sony, PlayStation, Xbox and other names are trademarks of their owners. They are used on this site only to describe compatibility. Nostyra is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them. See the disclaimer.

8. Website content

The text and images on this website are © vivusk, unless stated otherwise. Screenshots show the Nostyra launcher; cover art inside them comes from libretro-thumbnails and belongs to its respective owners.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top changes when we do.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the mandatory laws of your country.
